4 creative ways of using social media walls for events and conferences

S

ocial media walls are all the craze when it comes to event management, and with good reason.

They are a cost-effective way of engaging and entertaining your event guests while also promoting your event agenda, sponsors, and products in an inconspicuous way.

Once you’ve crafted your perfect event hashtag and chosen the best place to display your beautiful social media wall, it is time to think about how you can best utilize that wall.

In this article, we will give you a couple of ideas on how to engage with your event audience and delight them with Wallery.

Since Wallery enables you to create and run anywhere between 5 and 20 social media walls at once, depending on your subscription plan, you can use any combination of these ideas at your next event!

Use your social media wall to run a contest

You can, for example, run photo or caption contests during your event and use Wallery to display all of the entries.

A photo contest

Ask your event guests to take a selfie with your product, next to your logo or in a specific location at the venue that you want them to gravitate towards.

Instruct them to use your contest hashtag (This should be different from your event hashtag) and to tweet or post their entries on Instagram.

Display all of the entries on your wall during the event, and announce the winner as it nears the end.

Why you should consider running a photo contest

Participating in the competition will be a fun experience for your event visitors, and the promise of a prize will urge them to enter in great numbers.

Each entry is a valuable promotion for you and your brand via the hashtag you have chosen, but also because the entries will be seen by the friends and followers of your guests for up to a couple of days after the event has already ended.

A caption contest

Caption contests are a good way to get many people involved with a piece of content you own.

Once again, you need to choose a hashtag for your contest and show your visitors an image you want them to caption. Display all of the entries on your social media wall and pick a winner at the end of your event.

Why you should consider running a caption contest

When done right, caption contests will easily captivate an audience beyond just your event! Plenty of photos and hashtags have gone viral thanks to caption contests, which is something to consider when planning out a contest for your event.

Another benefit to running a caption contest is the fact that, because of the nature of the contest, you will get many people to see and remember the photo they are trying to caption.

Use your social media wall to promote your sponsors and partners

You can choose to showcase your own, or the content of your sponsors and partners alongside social media posts of your visitors, or, decide to display only this type of content.

You can display this content in two ways;

By posting it on your social media pages and then sending it to your wall via the moderation panel, like any other type of content, or
By uploading images you want to display directly to Wallery. To learn how to do this, take a look at this step by step guide on our support page.

Use your social media wall to showcase the agenda

Just as you would upload promotional images to your wall, you can do the same thing with the agenda.

Prepare this type of content before the event, upload the images as a slideshow to your Wallery hub and use it to tease the agenda.

You can showcase the speakers and the topics they will be covering in their talks, as well as the time and location details.

Use your social media wall as a virtual guestbook

Guestbooks are a nice little touch to any event. At the end of your event, as your guests are leaving the venue with all the fresh new experiences and memories in the forefront of their minds, invite them to sign your guestbook wall!

Urge them to share their thoughts about the event and display them all in a prominent place at the venue as the event is winding down.

Not only will the guests have fun interacting with the wall, but you will also benefit from all the positive social media chatter sporting your event hashtag!

Pro tip: As the event nears its end you can repurpose your wall and embed it into your website.

Next time the event time rolls by and your website visitors are checking out the agenda, ticket prices and location of the event in order to decide whether or not they wish to attend, you will make the decision easier for them when they see all the social media posts you generated during the previous event.

Let all the positive social media interactions, fun photos and interesting thoughts your event goers shared on social media help potential future visitors reach a decision to come to your next event!
